Imphal, June 13 2024:
Manipur Meitei-Pangal Welfare Organisation (MMWO) has condemned the ambush laid on an advance security convoy of chief minister N Biren en-route to Jiribam by Kuki militants on June 10.In a release, MMWO president Boboi Korimayum urged the government to take firm action against the Kuki militants as they are a serious threat to national security.
While asserting that government forces should befittingly retaliate such aggression and demanding revocation of SoO agreement in existence between the government of India and Kuki armed groups, Boboi also questioned alleged inaction by the Assam Rifles, deployed to aid the administration and secure life of the citizens, when the state forces were attacked.
He also opined that lack of initiative by the central forces to provide emergency assistance to state forces will prolong the conflict and urged the government to take all necessary steps for restoring peace and normalcy in Jiribam.
The government should also ensure effective security to Meetei drivers and security forces who are selectively targeted by Kuki militants, suggested the president while sharing the pain of the people of Jiribam.
