NH-2 bandh on as agreement eludes meeting

The blockade imposed on the NH-2 remains in force as the first round of meeting between the agitating frontal organisations of Senapati district and representatives of the Government of Manipur, held Monday at the conference hall of Old secretariat, Imphal, ended without any breakthrough.
The government delegation headed by works minister Govindas Konthoujam and power minister Th Biswajit, also included Karong MLA Kumo Sha, an ADGP, commissioner (Home) and Imphal East SP.
On the other side, the 14-member team representing Senapati district frontal organisations was led by Naga People s Organization (NPO) president Kuba Peter, Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) president S.aloni Tony and Senapati District Women's Association (SDWA) president RN Hannah.
During the meeting, the frontal organisations placed a charter of demands to the government that Arambai Tenggol Unit-18 tender apology, and engage responsible valley-based CSOs to resolve the issue, all involved in the recent attempt to murder and extort two Naga youths on October 31, be punished as per the law within a stipulated time, ensure justice for the victims and no donation/tax on Naga truckers, traders and commuters by valley based organisations or groups.
According to a representative of frontal organisations, the government side agreed to place the charter of demands to chief minister so as to solve the matter at the earliest.
However, the meeting concluded without any breakthrough between the two sides.
NPO, SDSA and SDWA imposed restrictions on movement of commercial vehicles along the NH-2 road the over the attempted murder and looting from two Naga youths in Lamsang area October 31 .
Meanwhile, around 400 loaded trucks are stranded in the Manipur-Nagaland border and from Mao gate till Senapati bazar due to the bandh.
Additionally, around 500 Manipur-bound trucks are stranded in different locations of Nagaland state.
