Govt urged to compensate crisis-hit farmers

Social activist Sagolsem Bangkimchandra has urged Bishnupur deputy commissioner Lourembam Bikram to process release of compensation granted by the government to farmers of Wangoo 60 Sagang Loukol who are unable to tend to their held due to the ongoing conflict.
Addressing the media at Wangoo Ahallup Mayai Leikai on Thursday, Bangkimchandra admitted that some of the affected farmers have received compensation in their bank account, but there are many who have not received it.
Hence, authority concerned must deposit the compensation amount in the bank account of remaining farmers within 10 days to alleviate their suffering, he appealed.
One of the affected farmer, Sagolsem Sanjoy appealed to the MLA concerned to look into the matter and address grievances of suffering farmers of 60 Sagang Loukol.
It may be mentioned that 60 Sagang Loukol consists of around 300 'Pari' of farmlands of Sandel, Tharo Pokpi, Joy Thongkhong, and Sangomshumbi with almost 200 farmers feeding their family through agricultural works.
Since outbreak of the crisis, the farmers have not been able to resume agricultural activities.
