Martyrdom anniversary of Modhumangal observed

Imphal, February 11 2025: The 30th martyrdom anniversary of 'Shaheed' Modhumangal Sharma was observed at JN Manipur Dance Academy, here, on Tuesday with Manipur University vice-chancellor Prof N Lokendra as chief guest, SM Foundation president A Brajakumar as president, and MU anthropology department head Prof MC Arun as guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Arun highlighted the rich culture and tradition of Manipur and its role in nation-building, which Modhumangal Sharma upheld throughout his life while Prof Lokendra delivered a lecture on the life and activities of Modhumangal as a swayamsevak and extolled his undaunting spirit of nationalism and A Brajakumar recalled how Modhumangal Sharma often spoke to him about the need to reform the government, which he believed was possible only through a political process.

To achieve this, he resigned from government service and joined electoral politics with the vision of bringing social reformation and a better Manipur, Brajakumar added.
