Imphal, August 09 2022:
Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) has asked SP Churachandpur to rectify his report that led to suspension of tribal leaders from their service and to apologise to the Forum for his atrocities against the tribals of Churachandpur as per the tribal customary law within 4 PM of August 10 .
As per a release signed by ITLF chairman Romeo Hmar and secretary Muan Tombing, a joint tribal leaders' meeting was convened by ITLF on Monday.
During the meeting, the Joint Committee which consists of leaders from different tribe councils, philanthropic organisations, student unions, women organisations, and human rights organisations unan imously condemned the SP Churachandpur for his report that resulted in suspension of tribal leaders from their employment.
The Joint Committee has concluded that the SP has malicious intentions against the leaders of tribals in Churachandpur and has shown great disrespect towards the tribals as a whole by falsely incriminating the tribal leaders of being involved in unlawful activity without any proof and sending police forces to their houses 6-8 hours prior to the proposed ATSUM programme, sending the report hastily to the higher authority by evading departmental enquiries and thereby depriving the accused tribal leaders of the opportunity to explain themselves, harassing the tribal leaders in the presence of their family members by barging into their houses without any prior information and indifference to the families who are dependents of the suspended leaders.
ITLF further asserted that SP Churachandpur must amend his report and apologise to the Forum by 4 pm of August 10, failing which, his bias and discriminatory action taken against the tribals will be taken up with the National SC/ST Commission of India and he will be accountable for any untoward incident that might happen.
