CNPO sticks to Feb 12 shutdown, public rally

Imphal, February 09 2025:
Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) reiterated its stand to impose total shut down from 6 am on February 12 and simultaneously take out public rally in all Naga areas of Chandel and Tengnoupal districts to protest fencing of the Indo-Myanmar border and scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR).
As per a release of CNPO, the rally will commence from Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School, Japhou, cover Japhou Bazar, and end at the office premises of the Chandel DC Office.
While urging for the participation and cooperation of the 11 Naga tribe Hohos of Chandel, NSUC, NCAC, MACA, Japhou Bazar Board, area-wise chiefs' association/ committee, village authority, church leaders, social leaders, well-wishers, and Chandel denizens, the CNPO release specified that except for those involved/engaged in medical, fire brigade, and electricity services, there would be total prohibition on all activities and movement unrelated to the total shutdown and public rally.
