Relief camp resident escapes murder bid

Imphal, May 08 2024: A man staying in the relief camp opened at Thanga Wangma under Keibul Lamjao police station was fired at by unidentified miscreants in front of the camp on Wednesday.

The man, identified as Sawaijam Dhanabir (28) s/o Rajen of Churachandpur Yaiphakol, has been staying in the relief camp after the conflict broke out on May 3 .

According to a police report, on Wednesday around 8am, Dhanabir had just alighted from his Eon car in front of the relief camp when unidentified miscreants started firing towards him.

After firing some rounds, the miscreants immediately fled the scene.

In this regard, Keibul Lamjao PS has registered a case.

Dhanabir was shot on his stomach and right hand, and is currently undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity.

As his (Dhanabir) parents are staying in the Kamakhya Pemton relief camp at Hiyangthang, Dhanabir had gone to stay at the same on Tuesday and had just returned to his own camp in the morning when he was shot at.

It is not yet known who and for what reason, Dhanabir was attacked.
