Couple arrested with opium, brown sugar

Imphal, April 08 2024: Combined team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border Police Station (NAB-PS) and Bishnupur Police Reserved Line apprehended two individuals along with significant quantity of narcotics from Terakhong-sangbi ward no 1, Kwakta Municipal Council along Tiddim Road, Bishnupur on Monday around 3.35 pm.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Md Nurhaman alias Nurahaman (51) and his wife Ibem of Kwakta ward No 4, Bishnupur district.

The seized contraband included approximately 5.587 kg of opium and 1.006 kilograms of suspected brown sugar.

In addition to the narcotics, the joint team also recovered one Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle (MN05B-9039), one mobile phone, and documents pertaining to the suspects' identities.

Following the arrest, the accused individuals along with the seized items were handed over to NAB-PS for further investigation.

A case has been registered at NAB-PS for further investigation.
