Imphal, September 06 2024: The bandh called by Lamlai Kendra Village Volunteers' Force along the Imphal-Ukhrul road has beep called off after an understanding was brought during a joint meeting with Lamlai MLA Kh Ibomcha and Imphal East SP on Friday.

The village volunteers enforced launched the bandh from Thursday demanding deployment of adequate number of state security forces in Sanasabi, Thamnapokpi, Yaingangpokpi, Sabungkhok Khunou and Shanti Khongbal areas.

They also imposed a similar bandh on August 7 but was called off following assurance from the local MLA.

However, the assurance was not fulfilled and the village volunteers resumed their stir.

Bandh supporters blocked the road at multiple points affecting normal life.

However, medical emergencies, religious and essential services were exempted.

As per the understanding on Friday, the district police assured of deploying teams of state police in Yaingangpokpi, Santi Khongbal and Thamnapokpi with immediate effect.

They aljo agreed to deploy state forces at Yangangpokpi Uyok hill by the end of the current month.

Consequently, the bandh was called off.
