Court convicts man in drug-related case

Imphal, August 06 2024: Special Court (ND&PS) Manipur convicted a man who was arrested in connection with drug-related case in 2015. On February 22, 2015, a team of City police station arrested one Md Abdul Kalani (28) of Old Bazar Churachandpur with 10 strips of Nitrosun-10 tablets and 3456 SP capsules from Khwairamband Bazar Naga Nullah Kusturi Bridge.

After hearing the case on July 26, the judgement of the case was announced on Tuesday.

Thoroughly hearing arguments from prosecution and defence counsels, the court convicted Md Abdul Kalam under Section 21(C) and 22(B) of ND&PS Act.

However, the sentence of the convict will be considered on the next hearing.

The judge also instructed City Police station officer in-charge to take necessary measures for disposing the seized contraband items.
