Kangpokpi, December 05 2024:
In a significant development, the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), after deliberate discussions with civil society organizations, has announced the lifting of the ongoing shutdown of business establishments in Kangpokpi District.
The shutdown will officially end at midnight tonight.
This decision follows extensive discussions with the Centre-deputed Director General of Police (DGP) of Manipur.
The talks were initiated in response to the Public Appeal issued by the Government of Manipur on December 3, which called for the resumption of public vehicle movement along two key routes: ImphaLKangpokpi-Senapati and Imphal-Bishnupur-Churachandpur.
CoTU had earlier warned of intensifying public protests if the Government of Manipur failed to rescind its decision to resume public vehicular movement along the two routes.
