Kakching, December 04 2024:
As in other parts of the world, World Wildlife Conservation and International Cheetah Day was observed by Chandel Forest Division at St Paul's School, Liwachangning on Wednesday.
The programme was held with Chandel divisional forest officer (DFO) Dr Naorem Munal Meitei as chief guest and St Paul's School principal reverend father Aloysius as president, with the participation of teachers, staff and around 1200 students.
In his address, Dr Munal called upon the public to abandon the misconception that wildlife has no value as humans cannot survive without them.
Noting that Manipur once had abundant big wild animals such as tiger and elephant but now they are just tales, he emphasised that students and youth take proactive role in protecting the wildlife still in existence in the state including the 'Sangai' deer.
