AR conducts medical camp, awareness on HIV/AIDS

Assam Rifles, in collaboration with District Health Mission Society (DHMS), Chandel organised a medical camp at New Samtal in Chandel district on Sunday to deliver healthcare service to the uhderserved villages in the remote border region grappling with limited health infrastructure.
Specialists including gynaecologists, paediatricians, and ENT doctors from AR and DHMS provided consultations, said PRO IGAR (S) in a release, adding that diagnostic facilities like ultrasonography and lab tests were also made available.
A total of 1400 locals received treatment, med icines, and prescriptions during the camp held with active participation of local civil society organisations, including kuki Chiefs' Association (KCA), Kuki Youth Association (KYA), Women Association, New Samtal, and Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) .
The camp also included HIV/AIDS awareness sessions as part of World AIDS Day observance while a help desk was set up to encourage the local youth join the armed forces and Assam Rifles.
Chandel CMO Dr Joyson Monsang, commended AR for bridging healthcare gaps in the district, said the PRO.
Assam Rifles also organised a lecture on HIV/AIDS awareness at Sajik Tampak, Chandel district, on the occasion of World AIDS Day.
The session, led by the Assam Rifles Medical Officer (ARMO), focused on the prevention, early detection, and treatment of HIV/AIDS, while addressing associated stigmas.
