Possess cards, avail benefits: FOCS to farmers

Imphal, October 30 2024: Federation of Civil Society Organisation (FOCS) in collaboration with Manipur Women's Federation (MWF) and Manipur Peoples' Defence Force (MPDF) organised a farmers' card distribution and awareness programme cum Kiwi Exhibition at Keishampat Keisham Leikai community hall on Wednesday.

The programme was attended by FOCS president Thoidingjam Manihar, MPDF president Pebam Bishambor, MOMA project director Donald Soubam, 1CAR-KVK, Tamenglong SMS Dr Rk Roshan and progressive Kiwi farmer Ningyai Vashum of Talui, Ukhrul district In his speech, Manihar stressed the importance of being self-sustainable, especially in these trying times.

He then urged the 'genuine' farmers of the state to possess farmer cards as per the rules, so as to avail benefits introduced by the government and relevant departments for farmers.

He further urged the farmers to engage in double and multiple cropping so as to increase the yield, while requesting the Agriculture Department to distribute high -yielding quality seeds to farmers instead of mediocre ones.

During the programme, farmers' cards were distributed to beneficiary farmers from different places.
