Imphal, July 30 2022: National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) Managing Director Chanchai Kumar has said that the logjam in land acquisition and forest clearance related issues is hindering the construction of Imphal-Dimapur road.

Chanchal Kumar, who arrived in Imphal yesterday inspected the ongoing road construction work along the National Highway by NHIDCL today.

Speaking to media persons, he informed that the National Highway expansion works couldn't be implemented at many portions between Khongnampat and Senapati stretch as the State Government is yet to resolve the compensation and forest clearance related issues in some portions.

The Managing Director further said that Chief Minister N Biren Singh had assured to resolve the pending issues at the earliest during a meeting with him yesterday.

Chanchal also said that he along with his team members have reviewed the ongoing road projects of NHIDCL in the State and listened to the challenges being faced by all EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contractors.

During the inspection, the Managing Director advised the NHIDCL staff to work sincerely.

He met the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati later.
