Imphal, September 29 2021: Renowned film actress Soma Laishram has entered the politics by joining the Republican Party of India (RPI) officially on Wednesday.

Soma was appointed as the president of Youth Girls' Wing of RPI (A) during a function organised by RPI (A) at Meipa Fitness Centre, Palace Compound here.

The appointment letter was presented to the actress by party's state president Maheshwar Thounaojam.

Speaking at the event, Soma noted that the youth have a huge role to play for the betterment of the society.

As such, she decided to join politics to help guide the youth of the state.

In his speech, Mahesh-war said that the Youth Girls' Wing was established with the aim of providing a platform to the younger generation and aid them in fulfilling their responsibility to the state.

He then said that a Youth Girls' Wing for Keishamthong AC will soon be set up in this regard.
