Commando team rescues drivers

Imphal, August 28 2021:
A team of special commando of Manipur police rescued three drivers, who came from Dimapur but were taken captjve by unknown armed persons for extortion, from near Koubru Leikha on Saturday.
According to a source, the three truckers were transporting three Maruti Gypsy vehicles in their trucks from Dimapur.
However, after one of the trucks broke down at Koubru Leikha area and the operators were trying to fix it, some unknown armed persons descended from the nearby hill and demanded that they cough up Rs 1 lakh or else their vehicles will be torched.
Upon receiving the information about the incident, a special commando team led by OC subedar Bibekananda under the supervision of SP in-charge railway and special commando Krishnatombi and Kangpokpi PS team rushed to the spot.
However, the armed persons managed to flee from the spot leaving the drivers.
The special commando team then rescued the truckers at around 11 am .
