AR holds security meet, helps duo bitten by snake

Phundrei Battalion Assam Rifles organised a security and coordination meet with 18 village head men at Phundrei village in Thoubal district on Saturday during which discussions ranged on issues related to ensuring safe environment, security for overall development and other security related matters.
The headman pledged their full support in curbing nefarious activities and cooperation to Assam Rifles in maintaining peace and harmony in the area, said a PRO IGAR (S) release.
The PRO also informed that Loktak Battalion of IGAR (S) extended lifesaving medical assistance to a child of T Mungjang village in Bishnupur district and a woman from Serou village in Kakching district, both of whom were bitten by snakes on Friday.
According to the PRO, a four-year old child named Thangmnial from T Mungjang village who was bitten by a snake on the left hand was brought to the Assam Rifles unit hospital on August 26 with local swelling and pain.
The Medical staff examined and immediately rendered essential medical care to the child and stabilised his condition.
Meanwhile, a 45-year old female from Serou village, also bitten by a snake on her left leg while working in field, was rushed by relatives to Medical Aid Post of Assam Rifles at Kakching on August 26.The lady had developed local swelling and pain.
The Medical staff examined and immediately rendered emergency medical care to the victim to stabilise her condition, the PRO added.
