MLA Ibomcha calls for safe environment

Noting rapid deterioration of the environment and challenges posed to living beings acrqss the world, Lamlai MLA Kh Ibomcha emphasised on collective efforts and effective measures to maintain ecological balance so as to prevent occurrence of disastrous natural calamities.
Speaking as chief guest at the felicitation function of environmentalist Manikanta Mutum, who is recipient of the Certificate of Excellence presented by the Central Forest Division, organised on Friday at Manipur Press Club by Manipur Support Group, the MLA informed that Manikanta proposed to the government to make it mandatory to possess certificate of planting and preserving trees in applying for job service, and award grace marks to students who engage in tree planting and protection.
While conveying that the government will discuss the proposal and he himself shall extend all possible support, MLA Ibomcha also appealed all tp encourage Manikanta in pursuing his mission for conservation of forests and preventing deforestation.
Presided over by AIR former announcer Keke Wahengbam, the function was also attended by Imphal East ZP former Up-Adhakshya Kshetri Tama, Social Welfare Department joint secretary Bantee Konthoujam, Koirengei forest beat officer Hawaibam Thompson and social activist Eteen Maibam as guests of honours.
