Like Minded Group (LMG), Manipur has provided financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to the family of one Samom Ibomcha (65), whose rented house at Keishampat Thokchom Leikai was gutted in a fire incident.
The family is now taking refuge at the office premises of local club, Manipur People's Club.
LMG Manipur, in a statement, informed that a team headed by its chief advisor Wangkhemcha Shamjai visited the family and handed over the cash assistance on Wednesday.
LMG secretary Ojit So-rokhaibam, who was part of the team, said that LMG has been extending financial assistance to people who are facing hardships due to various reasons with contributions made by the group members.
So far, the group has provided cash assistance to 82 individuals/families.
He also emphasised on the power of crowd-funding for such noble causes and said that a mere contribution of Rs 5 or 10 will go a long way in helping the people in need.
Samom Ibomcha drives a passenger e-rickshaw and has been staying in the rented house for a long time since he has no land.
He had three sons but the eldest died of brain tumour some time back.
His remaining two sons are all grown up and they are helping the family by working as manual labourers.
Ibomcha's wife used to sell vegetables as street vendors but stopped the trade after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The family is originally from Leimapokpam under Nambol assembly constituency, the statement said and thanked Manipur People's Club for their assistance to the family.
LMG also appealed to the people of the state to donate whatever they could to the family.
