Form pricing committee, exempt loan interest: Bodies

In view of the res-tive situation in the state where people are facing se-rious inconveniences due to hiking price of essential commodities, Federation of Civil Society Organisation (FOCS) has demanded the government to form price fixation committee to con-trol the price and also to halt levying Interest from loanees for some time by microfi-nance companies.
In a release, FOGS secre-tary general Soibam Sur-jit lamented that amid the impact of communal riots, displaced people taking shelter in relief camps and general population facing various problems owing to enforcement of econom-ic blockade along the two national highways, traders are hiking price of essential commodities taking undue advantage of the situation.
Demanding that the gov-ernment form price fixa-tion committee to control the price of essential com-modities, he also appealed to microfinance companies to waiving interest from loanees considering the dis-tressful situation in the state.
Meanwhile, in a release National Identity Protec-tion Committee (NIPCO) condemned hiking price of essential items by taking advantage of the present cri-sis and demand that such unethical trade practices be stopped immediately.
It continued that NIPCO will look into the matter seri-ously.
