Imphal, November 19 2021: Political activist Thangjam Arunkumar, who is preparing to contest election from Wangkhei assembly constituency, has said that he will join BJP within a short time.

Arunkumar disclosed this during a reception function of Padmashri football player Oinam Bembem and distribution of PMJAY card held at his residence on Friday.

Addressing the gathering, Arunkumar said that he had earlier tried to join BJP but remained silent for some time due to certain issues and the delay was not related with politics.

While lauding the BJP-led government for taking up various welfare schemes for the people, Arunkumar said that he decided to join the party in view of development works being done by BJP government and reposing faith in the party.

Some intending candidates are seeking BJP ticket in Wangkhei AC but the decision of supporting the candidate who gets BJP ticket or not will be taken later on in consultation with the people, he added.

During the function, Arunkumar honoured Oinam Bembem, who was recently conferred Padmashri with a simple gift and distributed PMJAY cards to 240 beneficiaries of Wangkhei AC .
