Imphal, December 18 2021: Mid-Day Meal Workers Manipur president Y Indrani has lamented that the government has failed to pay monthly honorarium of mid-day meal workers for one year despite its claim of working for women empowerment.

Addressing a press meet at her Ching-meirong residence on Friday, Indrani pointed out that 6951 mid-day meal workers of the state have been serving meals to different schools despite getting meagre monthly honorarium.

Apart from providing low honorarium, the government has failed to clear their dues since October last year.

Department officials assured of clearing the pending honorarium before the Ningol Chakkouba festival but no steps have been taken up.

Besides, honorarium for mid-day meal workers in some states have reached Rs 14,000, she said and urged the government to revise the honorarium from the current rate of Rs 1000 per month and to clear the dues at the earliest.
