Imphal, September 17 2024:
Pointing out that people in Nungba area are yet to receive their entitled rice quota for the months of July, August and November of 2023 as well as from April 2024 till date, Nungba Area Village Authority Association (NAVAA) urged authority concerned to take immediate action for releasing the pending rice allocations.
In a release, NAVAA said that the delay has seriously impacted food security of the community who relies heavily on these provisions.
It appealed for distribution of all items allowed under the Food Security Act of India's Public Distribution system (PDS) to support the impoverished rural population in Nungba area and further requested permission for accessing the rice stored in Tamenglong HQ warehouse to address the current shortages.
NAVAA cautioned of democratic forms of agitation on National Highway 37 and national projects within its jurisdiction from September 23 midnight if their grievances continue to be ignored.
