Nine students faint in school inferno

Imphal, July 15 2024: A fire broke out at the building of Prism Higher Secondary School, which also houses Oxy Green Nutrition Centre, at Naoremthong Bazar in Imphal West district around 10.20 am Monday.

On receiving report of the inferno, a team of Manipur Fire Service arrived with four fire tenders and subsequently managed to douse the flames around 11am.Meanwhile, around nine students of the School, who lost consciousness amid the chaos were taken to RIMS for treatment and later discharged.

As per a release by the control room fire officer of Manipur Fire Service, a fire suddenly broke out in a building at Naoremthong Bazar, housing Prism Higher Secondary School and Oxy Green Nutrition Centre, around 10.20am on Monday.

The cause of the fire is said to be electric short circuit on the second floor of the building.

The timely response and intervention by Manipur Fire Service team helped in controlling the fire, thereby preventing any serious damage or loss of life, it added.
