Heishnam Kanhailal birth anniversary to be observed

Imphal, January 14 2025: The 84th birth anniversary of renowned theatre director Heisnam Kanhailal, along with the 50th anniversary of his iconic play "Pebet", will be celebrated over three days from January 17 to 19 at the Chandrakirti Auditorium, Palace Compound.

On the first day, all artistes, both living and deceased, who have performed in ''Pebet" since its debut in 1975 will be honoured.

On January 18, a memorial lecture by former director of the National School of Drama, New Delhi, professor Anuradha Kapoor, will be held.

The day will also feature a screening of the 16mm him adaptation of "Pebet", as well as a performance of Kalakshetra Manipur's play "Tamnalai" .

The celebrations will conclude on January 19 with a performance of the play "Keibu Keioiba" .
