Tribute event, World First Aid Day held

Assam Rifles of IGAR(S) organised a wreath laying ceremony at Sehlon in Chandel district in honour of Hav Judhan Singh Chetri, who made supreme sacrifice duringan intense counter insurgency operations in Mizoram on September 12,1967 .
As per PRO IGAR (S), havildar Chhetri led a patrol party during a joint operation with 2/11 Gorkha Rifles in Champhai, Mizoram under OP Dilma Lima.
In the operation, a patrol party of 10 soldiers was deployed by 1st Assam Rifles under the leadership of havildar Judhan Singh Chhetri and a patrol party of 2/11 Gorkha Rifles was simultaneously launched on a joint operation in Champhai.
As soon as this team reached near the camp of Mizo National Front extremists in Samathap Area, Champhai, they came under ambush.
The team, with its intelligence and quick response, fought bravely against the Mizo National Front extremists during which Havildar Judhan Singh Chhetri was fatally wounded.
Thursday's tribute event commenced with the wreath laying by officiating commandant of the unit followed by narration of the story of the brave-heart to all ranks to infuse a sense of pride and honour among the troops, the PRO conveyed.
On the other hand, the troopers of Assam Rifles observed World First Aid Day by conducting a comprehensive lecture and demonstration on first aid techniques at Hill Model High School, Singhat, Churachandpur on Wednesday.
The session, led by the Assam Rifles medical team, educated students on the importance of first aid and equipped them with life-saving skills, the PRO added.
