College committee states stand on Dr Somorendro's transfer

Imphal, August 11 2021: The Ad-hoc Committee of Constituent Colleges of Dhanamanjuri University has appealed to the government to reconsider the transfer order of Manipur College assistant professor Dr N Somorendro, who is also the general secretary of FEGOCTA.

In a release, the Committee said it is hard to draw any reason why the transfer of Dr Somorendro Singh is not linked with the recent movement of college teachers for demanding implementation of the 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018 spearheaded by FEGOCTA.

Moreover, the transfer order is in violation of the agreement reached as per the MoU signed by the government of Manipur with the FEGOCTA and AMCTA that no one shall be victimised for taking part in the teachers' movement, it said and observed that the order for the transfer cannot be expected to serve any positive value either in intent or in effect.
