Assam Rifles foils smuggling of WY tablets

Imphal, September 10 2024:
Assam Rifles foiled a cross-border smuggling of WY tablets worth approximately Rs 3 crore in L Phungchong village, Moreh on Monday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that during an area domination patrol carried out by a team of AR in general area of L Phungchong village along the Indo-Myanmar Border, an abandoned two-wheeler vehicle was spotted on the roadside.
Upon reaching the vehicle, an individual was seen coming towards the vehicle from the woods but on seeing the troops he escaped taking advantage of the thick foliage.
On detailed checking of the vehicle, nine full packets and one torn packet of WY tablets, weighing approximately 11.493 kg, were found inside the undercarriage of the vehicle.
The cost of seized WY tablets is approximately Rs 3 crore in the international market, it mentioned.
The release further informed that the recovered drugs along with two-wheeler vehicle were handed over to Moreh police station for further investigation.
