Police get custody of sexual abuser

The court of Special Judge POCSO Imphal West on Monday remanded a man accused of allegedly sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl, to five days in police custody.
On Monday, a team of Imphal police station produced the accused before the court with a prayer for remand.
According to the report submitted by the case IO, on May 24, the superintendent of RWCDWA Girls Taobungkhok filed a report at Imphal PS that a 16-year-old girl from Imphal West district was sexually and physically abused by her stepfather in a rent quarter at Uripok Yambem Leikai in September, 2022 .
The assault left her mentally traumatised and she had been staying at a home for destitute women.
Based on her statement, her two younger sisters were also rescued.
Based on the report, Imphal PS registered a case and launched investigation, following which the stepfather was arrested on June 9.Consequently, the IO made a prayer to the court for remanding the accused in police custody for five days to facilitate further questioning, which the court accepted and remanded the accused in police custody till June 14 .
