Thoubal, August 08 2023:
Meetei/Meitei Community Joint Co-ordinating Committee, Waithou to Kiyam, Kiyam Siphai, Haokha and Thoubal Khunou and Women Wing has extended support to the public curfew imposed on Assam Rifles by womenfolk of Malom Tulihal Mamang Leikai.
In a press release, Committee's president N Biren Singh conveyed that the action of AR against meira paibi activists on August 3 at Phoubakchao Ikhai who were opposing the attempt made by Kukis to carry out mass burial at Torbung Bangla by using chemical sprays, electrified barbwire, etc.,was clearly an attempt on their lives.
On top of this, it is known by all that AR is partial to Kuki militants, it alleged.
The Committee further demanded that considering their actions, AR should be removed from Manipur as they have failed to protect its people.
If the AR is not moved out from the state then the Committee along with other CSOs will resort to launching intense agitation, it cautioned.
