MDA appeals not to arrest village volunteers

Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA), a conglomerate of 10 political parties, has appealed to the authority concerned not to arrest village volunteers who are devoting their lives for the sake of Manipur since outbreak of the ethnic crisis on May 3 last year.
Speaking to reporters at its Babupara office, here on Monday, Shiv Sena state president M Tombi, who is also the convenor of MDA, informed that the alliance will continue to advocate for all the communities settling in the state to live in peace.
No one can claim Manipur which has a history of 2000 years right from the time of Nongda Lairen Pakhangba, he asserted.
Chipping in, MDA co-chairman Th Manihar said stressed the need to elect candidates of political parties which is in power at the centre and in the state and who are well qualified and educated.
The BJP and NPF are alliance partners of the NDA government at the centre, he reminded.
Meanwhile, MDA working chairman Dr Zilasana expressed confidence that the NDA will retain power at the centre considering the present political trend of India.
