Sit-in protests monetary demands

Kakching, January 07 2025:
A sit-in was staged at Sugnu Keithel on Tuesday to protest monetary demands in Sugnu area and call for ceasing unauthorised tax collection along the Wabagai Lamkhai-Serou route.
Speaking to media person, Sugnu Apunba Meira Paibi vice president Moirangthem Sangita informed that Sugnu and Serou, which are the last Meetei villages in south Manipur, have come under attack three times during the ongoing conflict.

Amid the villagers facing financial issues and staring at an uncertain future, serving monetary demands by some organisations is condemnable and uncalled for, she said, while demanding immediate cessation of levying tax on food items and building materials being brought into Sugnu.
The other protestors present at the protest, also appealed to people of the state to extend support to the Sugnu denizens in distress.
