KVK Bishnupur launches Krishi Mela

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Bishnupur, Utlou observed World Soil Day, at KVK-Bishnupur, Utlou and launched a 5 day Krishi Mela as part of Krishi Swama Samridhi Week(KSSW).
The program celebrated in connection with golden jubilee celebration of KVK was graced by SDO, Nambol Tongbram Shyamkumar Singh (MCS) as chief guest, Ex-Union Minister, GOI & Ex-dy CM, Chairman of KVK Bishnupur, Padmashri Th Chaoba Singh as functional president and Utlou Gram Panchayat ward no 3 members, Keisham Surjit Singh and Dr Kh Brajamani Meeti, Sr Scientist and Head Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bishnupur as guests of honour.
Speaking at the event, T Shyamkumar Singh urged the farmers of the state to rely on modem farming techniques to enhance food productivity in the State.
Th Chaoba, chairman of KVK Bishnupur stated that KVK was established fifty years back by the elders of that time to provide vocational training to farmers and extension workers.
The KVK for the past 50 years has conducted various research in the field of agriculture particularly soil testing, added Th Chaoba.
He continued that KVK Bishnupur conducted soil testing for the past 15 years and urged the farmers to avail the benefit of soil testing and encouraged the farmers to use compost fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers.
A total number of 9 stalls were opened at the Mela where farmers from the district displayed various fish products, vegetables including seeds, mushroom and food processing.
Later, soil testing certificates were handed over to the 50 farmers of the district.
