BJP accused of distorting Indian history

Communist Party of India (CPI), Manipur State Council has charged the BJP government and its leaders of distorting and undermining the history of the country and suppressing the rights of common people.
Attending a campaign meeting of the party held in Wangoi assembly constituency on Saturday, CPI state secretary L Sotinkumar said that the India emerged as a strong democratic, socialist and secular country after getting independence from the British rule with the sacrifice and commitment of patriots who believed in nationalism and socialism.
Unfortunately, the BJP government is trying to destroy the history of over seven decades and rewrite it, he alleged.
Former minister Dr Moirangthem Nara said that the BJP government is working in favour of a handful of rich corporates while suppressing the rights of common people.
He also alleged that Modi government is supporting the rich people by excessive privatisation of public sector undertakings.
CPI leaders Th Ibomcha and Geetarani, Loumee Lup president N Singhajit and secretary H Ibobi also attended the programme among others.
