Imphal, November 05 2024: Residents of Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi area momentarily blocked the Imphal-Yairipok road on Tuesday over prolonged neglect of the roadway.

The locals warned of closing the road indefinitely if authorities concerned do not repair the road within 10 days.

Regarding the brief roadblock stir, Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi Nupi Marup general secretary Heisnam Sulekha told media persons that the condition of Imphal-Yairipok road starting from Palace Gate traffic point has worsened rapidly.

She continued that Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi to Lourembam Leirak and Wangkhei Puja Lampak along the Imphal-Yairipok road has not been unrepaired for a long time despite launching agitations in the past.

As there is no sign of repairing the road, local people came out and blocked the road, but called off the agitation after an official assured, over the phone, of repairing the road soon, she said and warned of resuming the stir if repair work is not initiated within 10 days.
