Chakka Bandh at all NHIDCL worksites begins

A 'Chakka Bandh' at all the NHIDCL worksites of NH-102B up to Singngat has been called by National Highway 102B Affected Chiefs' Association with effect from Wednesday, said a statement issued by the Association.
The statement released to the press further said that the bandh would continue until payment of supplementary compensation is made by the government.
According to the Association, an agreement was reached between the NHIDCL and the chiefs' body on May 15, 2021 in the presence of tribal affairs minister Vungzagin Valte in connection with payment of compensation to the project affected people.
The need for payment of compensation was also highlighted to the executive director of NHIDCL in a memorandum submitted on August 23, 2021.The statement also recalled that an MoU was signed on September 13, 2021 in the presence of ADC to DC Khaikhopau, at the residence of Singngat MLA GS Haupu, chairman MTDC and MANIREDA, regarding the need for finalisation of the compensation.
