Imphal, June 25 2022: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) units of Imphal West and Tamenglong jointly organised an interaction session with inmates of Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa on Saturday.

According to a statement, the programme was attended by District and Sessions Judge, Imphal West cum A Guneshwar Sharma, secretary Hiralata Moirangthem, DLSA Tamenglong secretary Laishram Rina, panel lawyers, remand lawyers, Imphal West and Tamenglong PLVs.

During the session, A Guneshwar spoke in detail about the free legal aid services that could be availed under Section 12 of Legal Services Authority Act, including grant of bail and default bail to under trial prisoners.

He also explained how convicts could file appeal and avail free legal aid services.

In all, 123 under trial prisoners and 34 convicts took part in the session.
