International Widows' Day observed

Imphal, June 25 2021:
In connection with the 75th Independence Day, International Widows' Day was observed for the first time in Churachandpur as part of the week-long "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav" from June 21.District Social Welfare Office, Churachandpur and Social Human Action for Rural Empowerment (SHARE) jointly observed the day on the theme of "Invisible Women, Invisible Problems" at Themnu Age Care Home (TACH), Churachandpur on Friday.
Speaking at the event as resource person, DSWO Churachandpur Angom Tamphasana explained to the gathering about the Department's Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme, while SHARE president K Esther Vaiphei appreciated DSWO Churachandpur for organising the programme.
Later, an interactive programme was conducted.
At the end of the programme, Children of Chacha Nehru Bal Bhavan (CNBB), Churachandpur presented a street play titled, "Challenges of Widows", highlighting the various issues faced by widows.
