Police penalise 160 curfew violators

Imphal, May 24 2021: Police on Monday detained several individuals and collected fine from them for flouting COVID-19 guidelines/SOP and violating the ongoing curfew imposed by the state government to contain the pandemic situation.

According to a report released by Manipur Police Department COVID-19 nodal officer IGP (ops) E Priyokumar Singh, a total of 160 violators were detained and Rs 44,900 was collected as fine.

In Imphal West, 36 violators were detained and Rs 16,600 collected; 81 violators detained in Thoubal and Rs 10,600 collected; 18 violators detained in Kakching and Rs 6,500 collected; 22 violators detained in Bishnupur with a collection of Rs 10,000; and 3 violators were detained in Churachandpur and Rs 1,200 collected as fine.
