STDCM meet reviews situation, WMC sticks to stand

The Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee of Ma-nipur (STDCM) organised a consultative meeting at THAU community hall on Tuesday to review the present status of the ST demand movement and future course of action.
According to STDCM pub-licity secretary N Debeshwor, the consultative meeting was presided over by its president Dhiraj Yumnam and moder-ated by Dr Rk Nimai.
Prior to the meeting, a one minute's silence was observed as a mark of respect to victims of the communal riot.
The meeting was attended by MHRC former chairperson Khaidem Mani, senior advo-cate Irom Lalit, IRCS Manipur chairman Dr Y Mohen, MHRC former member Rk Rajen-dra, Department of Law MU head Dr Yumnam Premanan-da, PM& RHC (RIMS) head of department Dr Kunjabashi Wangjam, GP Women's College associate professor Dr Waik-horn Romesh, retired MCS Kh Amujao and Federation of Haomee president Sapamcha Jadumani among others, Several recommendations were adopted during the meeting so as to sustain the movement for inclusion of Meetei/Meitei in ST list.
Meanwhile, World Meetei Council (WMC) has stated that Government of India should consider the three-point agenda of the Meetei community for Constitutional protection as provided in ST provision, implementation of NRC in Manipur at the earli-est and protecting indigenous people against the atrocities committed by the illegal im-migrants in Manipur to resolve the conflict between Meetei and immigrant Chin-Kuki people.
In a release, WMC Assam State general secretary I Hari Singha strongly condemned the destruction of Meetei an-dent temples, the demand for separate administration by the 10 Kuki MLAs and inaction of the Government of India to abrogate So0 signed with Kuki militants.
Mizoram chief minister should not interfere in the internal affairs of Manipur and political parties should stop playing politics with the present conflict in Manipur, it asserted, while requesting media houses not to portray victims as perpetrators.
