JDU organises public meet at Singhat

In connection with the upcoming state assembly election, Janata Dal-United (JDI), Manipur unit organised a public meet at Singhat community hall on Wednesday.
The public meet was attended by ex-minister and JDU Manipur unit president T Hangkhanpau, general secretary M Surjit Singh, general secretary (organisation) H Rabikant and general secretary coordinator) M Dorendro, Paite Tribe Council, Lungthul Block president Jamkhogin, Kuki Khawglai Lompi, Singhat Block president Nengzamawi, and JD (U) advisers Jamkhanthang and Tunmang.
In his speech, M Surjit Singh recounted that JD-U was formed in 2003 by merging the then political parties Samata Party and Lok Shakti and it became as part of the .coalition government formed by the NDA in 2014 and deputy chairman of the Lok Sabha was from the party.
He also said that JDU is planning to held candidates in at least 20 seats in the upcoming election and the party could win around 10-15 seats.
Speaking at the event, T Hangkhanpau informed that JDU general secretary in charge for NE will be visiting Singhat in the coming days to take first-hand account of grievances of general public.
He also contended that out of Rs 4000 crore meant for tribal development, only Rs 186 crore was used for real progress and development as none of the tribal MLAs have the guts to raise the matter in the state assembly.
