Imphal, November 20 2021:
CPI Manipur state secretary A Sotinkumar said that the historic protest of farmers against the three farm laws with support from different sections of the society ended with victory after more than a year.
Addressing a press meet at Irawat Bhawan here on Saturday, Sotinkumar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the decision of withdrawing the contentious three farm laws due to the nnrelentless protest of farmers against all odds.
However, the protest will not be stopped fully until the farm laws are withdrawn and the Prime Minister should give the reason for taking so long to withdraw the legislations.
Over 700 farmers have lost their lives during the protest and several others were mowed down by speeding SUV in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri.
The decision to withdraw the laws is the victory of democracy, he said.
It is the right time to sustain the protest against labour codes, Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020, CAA and NRC while upholding the true constitutional value of democracy and republic.
The party extends gratitude to youth, students, agricultural labourers, women and workers for their support in the protest against the three farm laws, he said and demanded the Central government to withdraw the Electricity Bill, make MSP legal and withdraw labour codes.
He also demanded the government to provide adequate compensation to the families of farmers, who lost their lives during the course of the protest.
