Thoubal, September 12 2024: The body of Imtiyaz Khan (21), son of Md Najir of Yairipok Tulihal, which was fished out from Thoubal river, has been claimed by family members followed by conduct of the last rites on Thursday.

The body had been lying at JNIMS Morgue as the Joint Action Committee Against the Brutal Killing of Meraimayum Imtiyaz Khan refused to claim the same until justice is delivered.

In a release, JAC convenor Md Mujibur Rahaman informed that the body has been claimed so as to avert deterioration of prevailing unrest situation in the state.

He, however, appealed to CSOs and public in general to extend all possible assistance to the JAC in unearthing circumstances leading to the unnatural death of Imtiyaz Khan so that the perpetrators are punished according to law.
