AR units hold Tiranga campaign, plant saplings

Khoupum Battalion of IGAR (S) organised essay and elocution competition at Don Bosco School, Khongbung in Noney district on Thursday as part Of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and promote the campaign "Har Ghar Tiranga" to enhance and instill pride and honour of our national flag among the general population of the country.
Meanwhile, Modi Battalion organised a drawing competition at D Zalenbung Junior High School in Chandel district on Wednesday on the theme of 'patriotism'.
Altogether 112 students from class 1 to 10 participated in the competition and the winners felicitated with prizes and mementos.
Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles also organised a drawing competition at St Peter s School, Tengnoupal on Thursday as part of 75th year of Independence Day celebration.
A total of 150 students participated in 3 categories, displaying their best work.
Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the competition, said separate statements issued by PRO IGAR (S).
In another release, the PRO informed that Somsai Battalion conducted tree plantation drives at Tusom and Ukhrul on Thursday during which a total of 400 saplings were planted along with villagers and youth to promote awareness about the importance of conserving forest.
During the drives, 270 flags were also distributed to the locals, who applauded the efforts made by Assam Rifles for undertaking such initiatives in village.
Keithelmanbi Battalion also carried out a tree plantation drive wherein a total of 1500 saplings were planted at different locations in Lilong by members of local Clubs, Lilong Masjid Committee, school students, ESMs and farmers on Wednesday to commemorate 75 years of India's Independence.
The event also promoted the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' mission by spreading the awareness on importance of our national flag and saw enthusiastic participation.
