Farmers' training programme held

Imphal, August 11 2021:
A one-day farmers' training programme on Rejuvenate Farm Economic and Self Reliance' organised by United Committee Manipur (UCM) was held at Konthoujam Mamang Leikai on Wednesday.
Yurembam ZP member Th Nilamani, UCM president Joychandra Konthoujam and DAG Imphal West S Jugeshwar attended the training programme as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Joychandra emphasised on the need to learn to live with Covid-19 and work towards bringing self-reliance in terms of food production.
The training programme was organised with the objective to encourage farmers of the state to increase their production rate and the training will be organised in both hills and valley.
Becoming self-reliance in terms of food production will boost the state's economy, he said.
He also stressed the need for improving the irrigation system in the state so that farmers can get irrigation facilities whole year round.
Among others, Konthoujam GP up-pradhan K Rajendro and Konthoujam Mamang Women's Society president Ch Bimola also attended the programme during which plant protection specialist Kh Nimaichand, agronomist RK Sulodhoni, AYUSH deputy director Dr S Biswanath and soil chemist Sanatomba briefed the gathering on diverse topics as the resource persons.
