Phiran village celebrates Angsung Alum

Imphal, January 09 2025: Phiran village in Chandel district celebrated "Phiran (Lonkhu) Angsung Alum 2025" on Thursday, bringing together its off-spring from far and wide to celebrate their achievements and heritage.

The celebration themed "Lonkhu is Shining Forever" was organised to honour the success of the village's offspring in various fields, including education, medicine, and religion.

The celebration attended by large number of the villagers was held with United Naga Council (UNC) president Ng Lorho as the chief guest, Catholic Medical Centre (CMC), Koirengei director reverend James Tang-shel, and Chandel ZEO AI Lh Mojesh, among others.

L Wolring, patron of the event, highlighted the historical significance of Phiran (Lonkhu) village, one of the oldest Anal Naga villages, dating back to 100 AD.

Wolring stated that despite being scattered across different places, the community continues to shine through their achievements.

Chief guest Ng Lorho praised the village s historical importance and called for preserving such heritage.

He emphasised the need to respect and support those who remain in the village, safeguarding its history and culture.

"Without them, we would lose our history," he said.

Rev James Tangshel high-lighted the spiritual significance of the event urging attendees to strengthen their relationship with God and remember divine blessings in their celebrations.

Ng Lorho unveiled a monolith and released a souvenir titled Phiran (Lonkhu) Angsung Alum 2025 as part of the celebration.

Cultural highlights included performances by "Voices in Tapestry", Lh Tharin, and a traditional Anal Naga cultural dance by the youth of Y/Khutha.
