AR, Forest Dept seize timbers

Imphal, May 08 2022:
Tengnoupal Battalion of IGAR (South) seized timbers worth Rs 2.60 crore in Tengnoupal district on Sunday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), Assam Rifles troops intercepted two trucks carrying illegal timber at Kulyang village in Tengnoupal and seized the timber.
The seized timbers along with the apprehended traffickers have been handed over to Forest department, Tengnoupal for further investigation.
Meanwhile, a team of Jiribam Forest Division led by DFO Rajesh Darade seized around 112 cubic metres of sawn teak beams on May 5 at Dibong.
A case under relevant provisions of Indian Forest (Manipur Amendment) Act, 2018 and Manipur Forest Rules, 1971 has been registered.
