Two held for circulating misleading video

Imphal, November 05 2024: Two persons identified as Iphamayum Ramijuddin (30), s/o late Md Basiruddin, and Heibokmayum Thoiba (29), s/o Abdul Hakim, both of Kwakta ward no 8, have been arrested by police on the charge of circulating a misleading video post on social media.

According to a police report, the video was uploaded and circulated on social media around 6:30 pm on Monday, falsely claiming that a group of people dressed in black had assaulted them and stolen 500 chicks.

Subsequently, Moirang police registered a case and launched investigation.

During the probe it came to light that the video post was completely fabricated, with the recording made by Thoiba showing Ramijuddin speaking in front of the camera and making the false statements.

As a result, both Ramijuddin and Thoiba were arrested by Moirang police on Tuesday and registered case for initiating legal actions.
