Committee seals Jiri Hospital OPD, CMO office

Condemning alleged indifferent attitude of authorities concerned to their demands for addressing inadequacies in Jiribam district hospital, District Hospital Monitoring Committee and Jiri denizens locked the OPD room of 50-bedded hospital located at Ningshing Khul and office of the chief medical officer (CMO) located at Babupara on Wednesday.
Speaking to media persons, Committee member Ph Manteshori pointed out that it has been urging chief minister, health minister and higher authorities to look into shortcoming's of the hospital, depute a CMO and upgrade the district hospital in tune with changing times.
They also staged sit-in protest on August 29 in front of the hospital demanding authorities concerned to fulfil their demands, she reminded, while denouncing lack of positive response by the authorities till date.
As such, protest in the form of locking the OPD and CMO's office was resorted to, she maintained.
If authorities still continue to undermine the demands, then the denizens might decide for complete lockdown of the hospital, she cautioned.
